A Bit About Our Host: Kristy Jenkins
"Kristy has a personality with an endless zest for life! She enjoys sharing that zest with those that surround her, offering an infectious smile and sincere caring in all that she does". B.Bridle
Kristy was born the middle of 3 girls. For as long as she could remember, she dreamed of becoming a nurse. And so, years later, she did just that! For some time, she worked in the areas of surgery, paediatrics and long term care, where she developed an unwavering fondness of the senior demographic. Life's changes found her relocated up north as her husband developed his career. Sadly for Kristy, hospital jobs were few and far between! So, along the way she found herself exploring other roles over the years such as mentor, tutor, financial advisor and sales executive. Her true love however has finally prevailed. Now, with a bit of freedom to move forward, she is returning to her favorite group ~ the seniors! She says "I'm going to be one some day, so I'm surrounding myself with the best!" Her experience with family and finding the right place for them to call 'home' pointed Kristy down a path of exploration for just the right place. Her own in-law experience led her to meeting with several entrepreneurs offering similar housing options. From those meetings, she created her own "Senior House Share" concept that you are reading about in this website.
In her spare time, Kristy loves to cook and entertain. Other passions include keeping fit by kayaking, paddle boarding and biking. She enjoys people, the outdoors, a healthy lifestyle and above all....she loves music! For the past 6 years, Kristy has been the lead singer for the Rick Adamson Jazz Trio out of Gravenhurst. Prior to that, she enjoyed several years with a soulful blues band only after many years as a baritone singer with the Huronia Sweet Adeline's Chorus and Quartet. She and her groups have entertained at many a charity functions, community events and retirement homes with the hopes of helping whatever 'the cause' was and making people smile! Her favorite music reference is from a Katie Melua song "The piano keys are black and white, but they sound like a million colors in my mind". For several years, she enjoyed being a part of the Kempenfelt Community Players, taking on many roles in a variety of Community Theatre productions.
With a giving spirit, Kristy has now settled on Gravenhurst as her home (after working in the region for the past 10 years.)
She looks forward to participating in the community, and offering an alternative service not only for seniors, but for their families. " My plan is to offer a 'Cruise Ship' lifestyle right here on land! You will be pleased and I'll stamp my name on that promise!"
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Smiles, Kristy
